How long will the program take to complete?

The program is self-paced, allowing you to progress at a speed that suits your schedule and learning style. Some participants may complete it more quickly if they can dedicate more time each month, while others may take longer. You have the flexibility to set your own pace. It is estimated that most people will complete the program in approximately 12 months.

What's the difference between a QIDP/QDDP and an I/DD Specialist?

To qualify as a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) under federal law, you must have:

- Experience: At least one year working directly with people who have intellectual or developmental disabilities

- Education: Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field (as per 42 CFR 483.430)

Does the certification enable me to work as a QIDP/QDDP in my state?

Requirements for QIDDPs are set by each state. Often these requirements reflect the federal requirements identified in an earlier question. Check the requirements through the state agency responsible for overseeing services in your work setting. Your supervisor or employer may also be able to assist in identifying relevant requirements.
