National Developmental Disability Professionals Day

July 15

"Success in life is founded upon attention to the small things rather than to the large things; to the every day things nearest to us rather than to the things that are remote and uncommon." ~Booker T. Washington

Case managers, Service Coordinators or Brokers, Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals are some of the major career titles that describe those who work on behalf of intellectually or developmentally disabled people.

Recognizing the value and importance of these professionals, NAQ officially founded Developmental Disability Professionals Day—a stand alone day every year on July 15th—to honor and recognize their service and contributions. These are the people in our midst who make such an important difference in the lives of the people we support.

As the National Association created for such professionals, it has been our goal to create a learning community that supports the professional growth and development of its members, but also identifies and brings forward best and promising practices.

Join with us in celebrating their accomplishments. We are always amazed at the creative ways parents and friends as well as providers express their appreciation. You can always begin with a simple thank you, sending a thank you note, or taking the time to phone the person and share your gratitude. Organizations—don’t forget to acknowledge these staff on your website or in your newsletter.

Let us know how you chose to celebrate these professionals. Drop us a line at [email protected], or tag us on our socials, @NAQLearnConnectShare.
